day 35 friday: breakfast with neighbor

We had breakfast today with our neighbor, who is also on a visiting scholar position at the university here. A very nice man, he offered to have a beer with us to celebrate Obama's victory the day after it happened. Our schedules weren't working out for that, so instead we invited him over for breakfast coffee & pastries. He brought along beer anyway, as he is Belgian and his family is somehow or other involved with Duvell. He had fun with the boys, and it was great talking with him, so it's too bad that we didn't meet up until this late in our trip. (Especially if he intended on sharing his $6 bottles of beer with every visit!)
