Tonight we went downtown to the Umeda Sky Building. It's a two towered-skyscraper boasting the best views of Osaka from its 44th floor observation deck. Getting up there was quite an interesting affair. First we rode a regular elevator to the 31st floor, followed by a glass elevator up another few floors. When we exited that we boarded a glass-encased escalator that rose across the two towers at a wild angle. With all of Osaka lit up beneath and to the side of us, this is where the vertigo started to set in a little bit! Then we went up another elevator to the outdoor observation deck. On the upper floors they also had a few neat ”futuristic” activities, including Archer's favorite, the touch-sensitive benches that changed the picture and sound on a floor display.
We then went to a restaurant at the base of the tower, and had some really delicious meat and veggies cooked in broth, at our table--an excellent choice for a family with two kids that want to be part of everything. But it was fine, and Kate found a new favorite wardrobe accessory:
Archer ate well, and therefore got his wish of ice cream:
