day 7. friday: October 24

Tonight we went down to the Dotombori area of Osaka. The name refers to the canal that runs through the city, and it is packed with hip Japanese youth as well as many tourists (both Japanese and foreign.)

We were in search of dinner, and we settled upon the interesting looking Kinryu noodle shop. There were only two items on the menu: noodles in broth with pork, and noodles in broth with extra pork. You made your choice from a vending machine outside the restaurant, then presented the ticket to two men cooking outdoors.

Then you shuffled on inside, removed your shoes and slurped up the tastiest ramen I've had yet. Heaping bowls of kim chee and cold beer (grape juice for Archer) made it a memorable dinner.

i need an update!

by the way, the 99-cent store by my house was selling really racist fumanchu halloween costumes. i was going to buy a few and send them to you in a box marked "camouflage" but they ran out of them. and then i thought it's good i didn't send them because what if you opened the box in front of an asian person. it would've been really awkward for you. probably.
