Then we ate at the Tempozan Marketplace, described as "a seaside festive market... that is the first food theme park in Japan, where the original creators of typical Kansai cuisine open their restaurants."
The restaurants all had helpful English-language descriptions of their products. We sampled:
Ikayaki (Japanese-style pancake with sliced squid).
Description: "It is still delicious when it getting cold."
Takoyaki (octopus balls)
Description: "The true cuisine which is still delicious even when getting cold."

Mitarashi Dango Stick
Description: "dumplings with miraculously soy sauce-and-sugar-based sauce."

Pretty good overall! Archer had vanilla ice cream.

Hey guys-
I just read something that the Japanese eat out more than any other culture. Are you guys cooking in a lot or mostly eating out? How are the little guys doing with the food overall.
Looks like you guys are having fun!

I'm all caught up on my reading of the blog. Sounds like a very interesting trip so far - particularly interesting for Joe at work (bow). I have always enjoyed travelling around the country for my job and experiencing the differences just in different regions - another country will be fun! I would love to try all the different foods. Sounds like the kids are doing pretty well. Have a great time.
